Educational Requirements for a Cardiologist
Cardiologists receive extensive education, including four years of medical school and three years of training in general internal medicine. After this, a cardiologist spends three or more years in specialised training. That’s ten or more years of training! In order to become certified, doctors who have completed a minimum of ten years of clinical and educational preparation must pass a rigorous two-day exam given by the American Board of Internal Medicine. This exam tests not only their knowledge and judgment, but also their ability to provide superior care," according to the American College of Cardiology.

It is quite interesting to know how arduous it is to become a cardiologist and how many tests are to be undertaken. I also believe that taking the STEPS to start with is a prerequisite for specialization. So, that means one thing: even more tests!. Given the nature of what a cardiologist does though makes it obvious that a lot keen attention is to be undertook by the student. What also blew me away in the American Board of Internal Medicine's website was their persistency is assessing the aptitude of the applicants by regular degree reevaluations and regular examinations to make sure the cardiologist stays up-to-date.
